WHO: Required for all PGY1, PGY2, and PGY3 residents on elective or selective rotations (includes Endocrine, ID, IM Hoffberger, ER, Ambulatory, Elective, Geriatrics, IM selective). Optional for all other residents and medical students.

WHEN: Tuesdays @ 7:30 am

WHERE: Zoom - LINK for recurring weekly meeting

WHAT: Traditional lecture-style educational session focusing on the epidemiology, prevention, presentation, diagnosis, and management of a topic in outpatient internal medicine. Topics are chosen based on the didactic theme for the block. Presentations are given by residents and facilitated by an outpatient precepting attending physician.

HOW: PGY1, PGY2, and PGY3 residents are selected in advance for dates to present, and can be found on the block schedules. It is that resident’s responsibility to utilize reliable sources to create a PowerPoint presentation.

  • There is no template for this presentation, as the contents will vary per topic.

  • Include 1-2 multiple-choice questions from MKSAP related to your topic at the end of the presentation.

  • Some helpful references include: MKSAP, “In The Clinic” section of the Annals of Internal Medicine, Stanford Medicine 25 clinical videos, Yale Office-Based Medicine Curriculum, Hopkins Modules, and NEJM.

  • Preliminary interns without ACP account may request assistance from the chiefs to access MKSAP and other such resources.

  • Length of presentation is between 20-30 minutes.

  • Send presentations for review to the chief residents at least 2 days prior to presenting - by 5pm on Sunday.
