Guidelines

All interns will rotate in the emergency department! This rotation is available to all residents when desired as long as no more than (2) residents are scheduled. There will be 16 ten hour shifts during the rotation with varying hours, including weekends.

Residents will participate in clinical decision making and will be able to do bedside procedures under the guidance of ER physicians.

Categorical Interns will be scheduled for sessions at Sinai Community Care during this time.

Dr. Lisa Kirkland is the ER physician coordinator. Her contact information is: kirklandl@usacs.com. All residents scheduled to rotate in the ED should contact Dr. Kirkland atleast two months in advance and let her know your clinic schedule, if applicable.

Sinai ED utilizes FirstNet EMR. This is available on Citrix and is very similar to Cerner. If there are any issues, contact “Cerner Coach” on Vocera [2-1000, then say “Cerner Coach”].
