WHO: All medical students and all residents (except MICU, Night Float, or Offsite Rotations)

WHEN: 12:00 pm every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday

WHERE: Gann Conference Room, 2nd Floor, unless otherwise noted on Block Paper Schedule

WHAT: Subjects for lectures are based upon the general topic for the block (i.e. Endocrinology, Rheumatology, etc.). With the presenter’s permission, slides will be uploaded here on SinaiMed.net on a weekly basis. Components of the noon conference series include:

  • Journal Club (JC) - One or two articles within the block’s topic are presented and critically evaluated by a group of four residents. Format will be sent along with article(s) to the group at the beginning of the block.

  • Clinicopathologic Conference (CPC) - Graduation requirement for every PGY-3, sign-up for dates are sent by chiefs at beginning of each academic year. In-depth review of a case they found unique or interesting along with specific related teaching points. Presentation due to chief residents for review at least 1 week prior to scheduled date.

  • Quality Improvement Conference (QI) - Discussions of cases brought through Medicine Peer Review Committee meetings or otherwise brought forth by residents. Similar style to a Morbidity and Mortality Conference. Reviews outcomes or events associated with patient care [anonymously], identifies areas of improvement, and focuses on a clinical concept for teaching.

  • GME House Staff Noon Conference Series (HASH) - Pending.

  • Combined Report - Discussions of current case selected by one of the floor teams - either Baltazar, Himelfarb, Kassel, or Tabatznik. Similar to Morning Report but with more emphasis on the clinical management.

  • ABIM Board Review - Every Wednesday. Led by Chief Resident or Program Director. Based upon the block’s topic.

  • Research Presentations - Given by residents with assistance from Dr. Badal Thakkar, research advisor.
